Dr Ali Zarrouk
Upper GI and Obesity Surgeon
Dr Ali Zarrouk is an upper gastrointestinal and obesity surgeon and a senior lecturer at the University of Western Sydney.
After obtaining his primary medical qualifications, MBChB, he started his surgical training in New Zealand in 1997. He completed his general surgical training and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2007. In the same year he started upper GI surgery training at Auckland Hospital and then moved for further two years of post fellowship training in Sydney. The first year was at St George Hospital where he gained experience in laparoscopic and obesity surgery and the second year was at Bankstown Hospital training in surgery for cancers of the pancreas, stomach and oesophagus.
Dr Zarrouk has visited many centres in the US and gained experience in obesity surgery in world class units such as the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic, UC Davis Medical Centre, and Boston Medical Centre.
In January 2011 Dr Zarrouk was appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) at Campbelltown Hospital where he currently works as a general and upper gastrointestinal surgeon.
